In 2020, Vandenberg Space Force Station and CEMML began providing educational programs at local elementary schools to spread awareness about the snowy plover, a rare migratory shorebird currently listed as threatened under the federal Endangered Species Act. Over 600 students have participated in the program since the program began.

We work closely with the Department of Defense and other agencies to inform management of natural and cultural resources consistent with achieving mission-specific and societal goals. CEMML is part of Colorado State University’s Warner College of Natural Resources.

What We Do
The Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML) has supported military readiness and resource conservation on federal lands for nearly four decades, working primarily with the Department of Defense, as well as other federal departments and agencies. CEMML employs a team of full-time, in-house principal investigators. Our team of natural, physical, and social scientists is skilled in project management and implementation in the federal context.
